Cantonese cuisine, also called yuè cài is one of the eight major cuisines with a long history of about 2,000 years. Cantonese dishes taste mild, fresh and natural. Most of the Chinese restaurants abroad are Cantonese restaurants.

Hunan cuisine, also known as xiāng cài, consists of the cuisines of the Hunan Province in China. It is well known for its hot and spicy flavours, fresh aroma and deep colours. Hunan cuisine is known for being gan la (干辣; gān là; 'dry and spicy') or purely hot, as opposed to Sichuan cuisine, to which it is often compared. Sichuan cuisine uses its distinctive ma la (麻辣; má là; 'spicy and numbing')

Which provinces in China can eat the most spicy?Szechwan is not the NO.1!


Spicy lovers are often obsessed with Sichuan cuisine. However, do you know that Sichuan is not the most "spicy" province in China, but Hunan (湖南) is!


How much can Hunan people eat spicy food? It can be said that the spicier, the better. For them, a dish with only spicy taste is relatively boring. Only a dish with "color" "aroma" and "taste" can be called a perfect dish. "Taste" (口味 kǒu wèi )is the word that appears most frequently on the menus of various local restaurants. The "taste" precisely reflects the pursuit of Hunan cuisine for flavor and spicy.


The second spiciest province, Guizhou (贵州) , also loves chili peppers. Chefs stir-frying with fresh and dried chili peppers can be found everywhere in the streets of Guiyang. The famous Chinese spicy sauce Lao Ganma (老干妈) is a brand that came out of Guizhou.
